Rainbow Roulette

🧙‍♂️ IF YOU’RE GONNA GET CAUGHT IN THE RAIN… don’t be a shrinking violet!

The Lake District is synonymous with liquid laments, in the form of rain, rain and more rain. Here in Keswick, only about 7 miles from Seathwaite, England’s wettest inhabited place, we get our fair share.

Today, it was wind, wind, wind, though (and still is), with a hefty breeze blowing in from the Atlantic shaking the trees in front of the house. Storm Ashley, the autumn’s first named event, has meant that I haven’t been able to get out much in my first three free days here.

I’ve only managed one walk, ticking off another Wainwright mind you, and not an insignificant one at that. I’ll tell you about it in the next Chronicle, but as a teaser, it wasn’t the one I planned on doing.

I’ll spare you my thoughts on colourful umbrellas for now and start a series of shorter pieces to get more photos out there more quickly. My objective is a photo and a few words a day, so we’ll see how it goes from here!

P.S. I should say this lively lady was spotted outside Keswick’s best bookshop, Bookends, of course! And isn’t it funny that some people drape themselves in black from head to toe to make the view even drearier – not everyone, thankfully!

Happy raining!
