Meet the Legend Laggard of Lakeland! 🧙♂️
Nope, that’s not me you see, tearing hell-bent-for-leather down Helvellyn on a mountain bike. 🚵♂️
Nor will you find me dangling from a rope 🧗♂️ halfway up Scafell Pike.
There’s little chance you’ll spot me canoeing 🛶 or paddleboarding (what’s that about?) on Coniston Water.
Heck, you won’t even see me fell running lest I fall, when there’s a much less tiring and altogether pleasanter if old-fashioned option called walking.
Where you might well come across me is parked on my backside up Blencathra blethering about the outrageous price of Kendal Mint Cake these days to perplexed passers-by.
You can discover much (too much) more about me through the Lakeland Chronicles themselves, if you wish.
So, rather than bash you over the head with more blah, suffice it to say that I’m rediscovering the Lake District here, with you, after many years, in fact several decades away How did that happen? It’s been too long and I’m glad to be back.
Not that I live in the Lake District, but I know folks who do, and I’ll be regularly adding whatever crosses my mind to share to these pages.
I have other lives – a Paris one, a photography one, a writing one, a teaching one, a coaching one, a musical one, a painting one, a poeticising one… like all of us, many interests vie for my dangerously limited attention. But this project feels like a homecoming, although I don’t know why.
I invite you to discover, or rediscover this wonderful area through my eyes. It won’t be for everyone, and that’s fine, but if you are interested, you are welcome to join me on my latest creative adventure. Get your boots on! 🥾🥾
